AUDAC and Dante - Networked Audio with an AUDAC touch

AUDAC - Inspired by sound
We've been selling and recommending AUDAC's excellent range of products for quite some time here at Radio Parts. A combination of design, sound quality, features, and truly exceptional local support makes them an easy sell. There are a few too many products in their range to have them all on our own website, but contact us if there's a requirement, and we'll get it for you quickly and easily.

In the wider commercial audio world over the last few years, the trend has been away from analogue audio cabling, and towards networked audio. In a general sense, networked audio runs over standard CAT5E (or better) cable and overcomes a lot of the drawbacks of traditional audio runs.
  • No degradation due to electro-magnetic interference (EMI) or attenuation
  • Less complicated cable runs (who wants to solder fifty 3-pin XLR plugs?)
  • No grounding issues
  • Some networked audio components can be powered remotely via Power-over-Ethernet (PoE)
  • Crosstalk between audio cables is eliminated (but still pay attention to the cabling rules & requirements for data cabling - this stuff is good, but not immune to the laws of physics)
The leader amongst networked audio formats is Dante®, and we've done training sessions covering the topic in the past (I start talking about it around the 36m33s mark here). When Dante® was designed (here in Australia), the key features they wanted were:
  • Easy to Integrate
  • Easy to Install
  • Easy to Use

There are over 400 manufacturers, and in excess of 2000 products with Dante® built-in. And all of these talk with all of the others.
From AUDAC's point of view, Dante® is a technology that can help their customers integrate quality AUDAC equipment into more sites and jobs. Plus, it allows for simple upgrades to the system as requirements change in the future.
To that end, here are a few of their current product offerings: AMP203 Dante® Mini Stereo Amplifier
AMP203 - Dante mini stereo amplifier
  • With 2x30W RMS into 8Ω stereo, purely driven from a PoE switch, controllable by the AUDAC Touch2 smartphone & tablet app, this is a brilliant little zone amplifier. Just add speakers and your Dante® flow!

ANX44 Dante® Audio Network Interface 4in/4out
ANI22 & ANI44 Dante® Audio Network Interfaces
  • Again, these are internal 2in/2out and 4in/4out cards designed to be installed in the WaveDynamics series of power amplifiers giving you access to any of the Dante® audio flows on the network.

And I guarantee that won't be the end of AUDAC + Dante® integration! I'd love to see it in their digital matrix systems, and what about the IMEO professional soundbar or LX-series active wall speakers with a Dante input? I think it'd make a killer addition to the SONA compact speaker or SENSO ceiling speaker with subwoofer solutions too.   Plus, don't forget that any of the AUDAC + Dante® products will also integrate with any of the existing Dante® products in our range from Amphenol, McLelland, Yamaha and so on!   As I said earlier, there are a few too many products in AUDAC's range to have them all on our own website, but contact us if you're working on a commercial venue, and we'll look after you.
Shoot me an email if you want to know more about any of these things, Dante® in general, and thanks for your time.
Happy hunting!
Ben Marshall.
