E 6 series draws on Jamo´s rich heritage to shine

Designed for the needs of both music and movie fans, the new E 6 series borrows heavily from the technological advances and aesthetic identity already established in Jamo’s higher end loudspeakers but delivers them in a more keenly priced range.

When we say it’s a complete range we mean exactly that - there’s a two-way bookshelf, two three-way floorstanders, a centre-speaker plus two powerful subwoofers.

‘You don’t have to search far to see where theinspiration for the design of the E 6 series came from,’ says Jamo Concert Business Unit director Michael Nielsen, ‘The curvaceous arc-shaped cabinets and elegant proportions will already be very familiar to fans of Jamo’s established D 5 series.’

The E 6 series models are constructed using the same manufacturing technique employed for the premium D 5 series,with longitudinal grooves being cut into the MDF cabinet to allow it to be shaped. Sonically destructive internal standing waves are dramatically reduced as a direct result.

When it comes to technology, the E 6 series has borrowed afew ‘tricks’ from a more recent Jamo line… 2004’s EISA award-winning E 7 series. Oneof the major innovations pioneered in E 7 was DTT (DecoupledTweeter Technology) so, being the generous souls that we are, Jamo has carried it over to this new range.

All of the E 6 speakers use 1in DTT tweeters, mounted in very inert baffles, along with midrange and bass drivers that feature woven fibre-glass/glue compound cones and natural rubber surrounds (the former reduce distortion while the latter linearises the frequency response).

Sonic integration between the drive units is seamless and to ensure the best bass response the two floorstandersfeature Flow Optimised vents, one at the top of the cabinet (at the rear) and a second at the base, on the frontbaffle.

And don’t forget to check out the base fitted to thetwo floorstanding models too. Looks ordinary enough but it’s actually got integrated shock absorbers to enhance bass reproduction even further.

To ensure that there’s no timbral mismatch when the speakers are used in a home cinema setting, the same tweeter appears in all the speakers. Add in an appropriate subwoofer for your room/configuration (if required) and you’ve cracked it!

Put all that together and what it means for you is an astonishing level of performance combined with dramatically good looks, leading edge technology, all delivered at a until now unimaginably competitive price.

E6 TECHNOLOGIES

• DTT ( Decoupled Tweeter Technology): One of the biggest challenges when designing speakers isdealing with unwanted cabinet vibration. Our solution is Decoupled Tweeter Technology (DTT). By decoupling the tweeter from the rest of the loudspeaker, vibrations transmitted from the front baffle to the tweeter are reduced by more than 20 dB.The result is an uncommonly detailed and realisticreproduction of high frequencies
• Convex tapered vent: When playing loud the speed of the air in the bass-reflex port can create sonic colouration via turbulence which is why the designof the ports is
  highly critical. The carefully symmetrical-flared design (Convex-shaped) of the Jamo bassreflex port ensures an optimised airflow that minimises port noise. Actually,
  this design allows the speaker to generate 5 dB of extraSPL before any port noise occurs!
• Fibreglass / Glue compound: Diaphragms made of a special fibreglass / glue compound help to control and distribute wave-modes evenly, thereby ensuring minimal colouration and a very transparent midrange reproduction.

The arc-shaped cabinets aren’t just visually elegant - together with internal bracings this shape also enhances the rigidity of the design, thus preventing undesirable vibrations from colouring the sound. The cabinetsides are made using the same technique used for the D 5 series, cutting longitudinal grooves in the MDF board to shape the cabinet.

What’s more, the arc shape damps "standing waves" and so prevents sound waves from being reflected back to the drivers – that way distortion/colouration is reduced to a minimum. The two Floorstanders are equipped with a base with integrated shock absorbers that further enhances bass reproduction.

The E 680 is a more powerful floorstander than the E 660.Instead of one 6½” woofer the E 680 features two 8” woofers in a larger cabinet – it goes without saying that this combination gives the E 680 much more power and depth in the low bass. Use them as either afront speaker in a home cinema system or as a stereo speaker.
